Can cancer be spread through blood contact?

Jonah S
no, cancer is not an infectious disease, meaning that it is not caused by any type of parasite and there for there absolutely no risk in, coming in contact with a cancer patient. Cancer is caused cells multiplying in an out of control manner

We?re not sure still but it looks like no. Tests have shown there is no risk for that happening, but just in case someone gets stupid and wants to push a lawsuit I think they do it for legal reasons.

Mosquito bites probably not. We don?t know what causes it.

Studies has shown that malignancies are not spread through blood component transfusions. In fact, as late as 40 years ago, patients with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia donated white cells to other patients with infections unresponsive to antibiotics. The donated white cells helped attack bacteria.

Deferral from volunteer blood donations are not mandated by the FDA, but rather Medical Directors for each collection facility are allowed to determine the deferral period. All blood centers permanently defer donors with a history of hematologic malignancies. Soft tissue malignancies vary in deferral time from 1 to 5 years, depending on the center guidelines. The deferrals are not in place due to the potential for transfusion transmission, but rather to protect the donor and assure an efficacious product for the patient. We do not want to collect a pint from a donor if there is a chance residual tumor is present and additional therapy is needed. Also, it may take time for post-therapy cancer patients to recover full marrow activity, if chemotherapy was required.

Malignancies cannot be spread via insect vectors.

I have something to say to this so called ?blood Doc? If you truly knew something about leukemia, you would know that their white cells are totally useless, That?s what leukemia is, IMMATURE white blood cells being made at a rapid rate and are absolutely of no use, so what makes you think they are going to kill bacteria if someone gets them through an IV, they won?t mature that?s for sure. USELESS So, blood doc. Nice going,.
Don?t listen to him, listen to the guy that told you in plain terms and not something copied from a web site, no cancer is contagious, be it blood sweat, saliva, or any bodily fluid. it can?t be contagious.

Cancer is not passed through the blood. some cancer victims can donate blood, those with blood cancers are not allowed, just in case as research is done (and would you want to if you might come out of remission and find not only do you have cancer again, but you have less blood than normal making you more susceptible to illness, its just a bad idea).
Red Cross will let you if you?ve been in remission 5 years without relapse you can donate blood. In the UK you cannot.

No cancer is not contagious Its is not a infection that can be spread to others

Merlin
No it wont get spread through any agents.

If, for example, a patient has leukemia/lymphoma, and someone else?s blood comes in contact with his, can the cancer be spread? If not, why are people who have had cancer not allowed to donate blood? Also, can blood cancers be spread through mosquito bites as well?
